This project was made possible thanks to a generous donation from the Wiener Family.
The Jewish Holocaust Centre is custodian of an important archive of original material from the Lodz Ghetto. Some of it has come from Bono Wiener and Abram Goldberg who had the foresight to bury two boxes of documents and other material just prior to deportation. Sadly only one box was retrieved, the other was lost. Their secret radio was in the other box, but thanks to Beit Lochamei Hagettaot (Ghetto Fighter’s House museum) in Israel, we have images of a similar radio, the Weksler radio, which was donated to their collection.
The Jewish Holocaust Centre was established by Holocaust survivors in 1984. The centre is dedicated to the memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators between 1933 and 1945. We consider the finest memorial to all victims of racist policies to be an educational program which aims to combat antisemitism, racism and prejudice in the community and fosters understanding between people.
